J3 Cub Bed

Well I was able to get a little more work done on the bed.  I managed to cover the frame with the yellow canvas and dry fit it to the base. Next is to cover the front nose, put a windshield in, back window and add hinges and locks to the door.

Baseball Painting

Yet another project, a painting...two paintings in the works with a baseball theme.  My plan is to vacuum form bats and baseballs to cover and paint on. What you see here is the beginning stages of the vacuum forming process.  I built a box tonight and got the bat ready to form up.

Walt Disney World Trip

I started painting a BIG THANK YOU for my In-Laws for taking my family and I to Walt Disney World.  It was an experience we will never forget. I am creating this piece of art to help the in-laws remember just in case they start forgetting. I started with a deep 2" cradle wood panel and pasted a map of our destination, Florida. Items of our trip will be added as I go along. Not sure were it will end up. Keep eyeballing the blog to see the progress.

J3 Cub Bed

Continuing to work on the bed.  I covered one side with a drop cloth I bought from Harbor Freight died yellow using Rit Dye.  Still need to trim and pull back to attach to the inside of the frame. Cheers.

J3 Cub Bed

Wing parts

Left Side with Door

Right Side

Front and rear bulkhead
Well, I have started working on my son's bed.  I decided to make a J3 Cub bed since we both love flight so much.  I simplified the design while making the project bigger than it needed to be, ie: I made it attach to two walls and having a wing go across the to the opposite wall making a shelf or a loft bed instead of just sitting on the floor.  This depends on if it holds up or not...  Stay tuned for a maiden flight.
